The Dangerous Drugs Board, will remain consistent with its thrust to
achieve its vision of a Drug Free Philippines by 2010. It has the following
priority plans of action:

1. Encourage more active participation of the community
through “Barkada Kontra Droga” a program utilizing
peer approach.

2. Monitor drugs and other substances that are potentially
abused for their possible reclassification and inclusion
among the list of Dangerous Drugs and controlled
substances.

3. Enhance and expand the various forms of Demand
Reduction campaign and utilize the different venues of
media in the promotion of civic awareness on the evil effects
of dangerous drugs focusing on family as important
fundamental institution of the society.

4. Implement alternative development programs by substituting
legitimate crops for marijuana cultivators and skills trainings
for recovering drug dependents.

5. Construct more government drug rehabilitation facilities in
areas of the country where there are none so that the Board
may be able to extend assistance to indigent drug
dependents who cannot afford expensive rehabilitation
program in private rehabilitation centers.

6. Establish Regional Drug Rehabilitation Centers in each
region in order to increase the country’s disproportionate
rehabilitation capacity and provide technical and financial
support to non-government rehabilitation centers for the
improvement of their programs and services particularly in
relapse prevention.

7. Conduct studies and consultations with appropriate
authorities on possible amendment of the Dangerous Drugs
Act incorporating important provisions that would aim to
strengthen the mandate of the Board in the area of drug
demand and supply reduction.

8. Institutionalization of the UNODC project, Integrated Drug
Abuse Data Information Network, as the database of all drug
related information.
