The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) awards the winners of the Search for the Outstanding “Barkada Kontra Droga” (BKD) Program Implementers in the Secondary Schools.
Awardees were recognized during the flag ceremony today, February 5, at the DDB-PDEA Grounds. Agusan Del Sur National High School, Tambulig National High School in Zamboanga del Sur, and Bangcud National High School in Bukidnon were the recipients of the first, second and third place, respectively. Also recognized through a consolation prize were Pototan National Comprehensive High School and Cagayan National High School.
DDB Chairman Secretary Catalino S. Cuy congratulated the winners of the competition. “Today’s recognition is what you truly deserve. It is an achievement you truly earn. On behalf of the Dangerous Drugs Board, I congratulate you on your victory and wish you all the best in your anti-drug advocates and endeavors”, this he said during the awarding ceremony today.
The competition was open to all secondary schools with organized and functional BKD Chapter nationwide. To qualify, chapters should have conducted a series of program on preventive education and information dissemination, followed by the launching of alternative activities (i.e. poster/slogan contest, essay writing) in the school and the community.
Pursuant to Board Regulation No. 5, Series of 2007 and Section 77, Article IX of RA 9165, the competition aims to strengthen the implementation of the National Drug Education Program (NDEP) through the “Barkada Kontra Droga”.
