For Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Secretary Antonio “Bebot” A. Villar, Jr., freedom does not only mean being free from foreign invaders but also being free from the clutches of harmful societal menace like illegal drugs.
During the celebration of the 115th anniversary of Philippine Independence in Dagupan City where Sec. Villar served as a keynote speaker, he urged every Dagupeños to heighten the fight for a drug-free city.
Gathered at the Dagupan City plaza on June 12 morning, the people of Dagupan did not only look back on the past and honored Philippine heroes but also professed their commitment to ensure that the country remains independent and free from all forms of evil including illegal drugs.
Sec. Villar also took the opportunity to visit the Bonuan Binloc Drug Rehabilitation Center in Dagupan City. He is pleased to see the fruits of the 10M financial assistance given by the DDB for the construction of the center but also admits that much is still needed for the facility to soon be fully operational and be of service not only to the people of Dagupan but also to those who live in nearby provinces as well.
Sec. Villar assured Dagupan City officials led by Acting Mayor Belen T. Fernandez that the DDB will continue to support the city’s efforts in drug abuse prevention and control including the Bonuan Binloc Drug Rehabilitation Center.
The DDB chair believes that through the treatment and rehabilitation center, Dagupan city will be able to gain back productive citizens that once have fallen prey to drug dependence.
