The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), revised the teaching materials used in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education or DARE program. It was held last September 10-12, 2013 at the NEAP Regional Office IVA, Malvar, Batangas.
The DDB and DepEd gathered experienced writers, illustrators, and editors for the try out and final revision of the materials to make the program more effective and responsive to the needs of Filipino students.
Mr. Rey Villegas, City Administrator, representative to the Municipal Mayor Carlito Reyes of Malvar, Batangas, stated that this notable output is a concrete manifestation of the synergistic efforts of the Dangerous Drugs Board, Philippine National Police and the Department of Education.
In a message given by the Deputy Provincial Director for Operations of the Philippine National Police, Batangas Province, PSupt. Isagani A. Fetizanan, he stressed that Batangas Police is vigilant in its operations to save the youth against dangerous drugs.
Usec. Edgar C. Galvante, Permanent Member, DDB, on the other hand, reminded the group of the hardships they had gone through in the process of modifying the DARE Manual and Workbook. He commended the group for doing a significant work in making the project suitable for the Filipino Youth.
PO2 Bonifacio F. Villamin and PO2 Shirley B. Dumpao discussed through demonstration the topic “Building Self-Esteem” to Grades V and VI students of Malvar Central High School. The participants from DDB, DepEd and PNP witnessed and evaluated the demonstration.
