The Dangerous Drugs Board launched Campus Tour for Kids on How to say ‘No to Drugs’ in three different elementary schools in Metro Manila last July 30 and August 14, 2014. A total of 591 elementary pupils participated in the said launching.

This is a half-day activity for kids which aim to educate them on the eight (8) different ways to say NO to drugs. It also exposes the kids to a variety of positive activities so that they may better understand the importance of living a healthy-drug free lifestyle.say no campus tour 001

At Kamuning Elementary School, Mrs. Thelma T. Co, School Principal, welcomed the DDB and Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (QC-ADAC). She expressed her gratitude for the creation of a meaningful program focusing on how young people can be equipped with knowledge to say No to Drugs.

Ms. Liane Angelica M. Kalacas, Information Officer I, Preventive Education, Training and Information Section of the DDB discussed the “8 Different Ways to Say NO to Drugs” which was made more interesting through role playing.

In Tomas Morato Elementary School, Ms. Maricris S. Santos, School Principal, welcomed the DDB and QC-ADAC officials. Ms. Santos said that the students are very lucky to be part of this program because they will learn a lot on drug prevention education.

Ms. Ofelia M. Legaspi, HEPO III, Preventive Education, Training and Information Section of DDB explained the effects of dangerous drugs in society and challenged them to be aware of problems they may have to face in the future.

say no campus tour 002An inspiring message was delivered by Ms. Reyna A. Bello, Educational and Training Unit Head, QCADAAC. She praised the pupils for being so attentive and well-behaved. “The QCADAAC are also conducting different programs to help fight the dangers of drug abuse and I will gladly appreciate it if you will be able to join us and spread this advocacy,” Ms. Bello said.

The DDB Team also went to Makati Elementary School to launch the same program. Ms. Cecilia N. Samia, Guidance Counselor, delivered her welcome remarks, followed by a discussion by Ms. Kalacas about the 8 ways to say ‘No to Drugs.’

Highlight of the launching is the dance number performed by Kid Listo, DDB mascot.
