The Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines (AGAP), Inc. conducted a seminar entitled “Preparing for the Unexpected: The Financial Implication of Disaster Management,” for all government agencies to ensure quick recovery when calamity strikes and enable them to cultivate the culture of disaster preparedness.
Ms. Elisa D. Salon, Convention Chairman, welcomed all the participants while Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Baguio City, gave his welcome remarks. He commended all the organizers for the effort of making the seminar possible. He expressed hope that all government agencies will be financially ready when calamity occurs.
DBM Secretary Butch Abad, talked about planning as a vital weapon for achieving maximum results. He said that it is a moment of transition for the government and to the citizens in its goal to achieve good governance.
DOH Assistant Secretary Enrique A. Tayag, provided some tips and ways on how to be stress free such as always pray, smile, stay away from negative vibes, release happy hormones through exercise, and eat fruits and vegetables and getting back to normal. He emphasized that “Stress” has an enormous effect on physical and mental well-being of an individual.
On the other hand, Assistant Secretary Guillermo Flores of the Presidential Management Staff discussed the topic on Achieving the Dreams of Being a Hall Famer. He likewise gave out the criteria of attaining the best accounting office such as completeness of work, compliance of the rules and deadlines, timeliness of submission of annual financial report to COA and the accuracy.
Honorable Romeo F. Fajardo, Deputy Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense, explained about the Disaster Preparedness and highlighted the effects of disasters as well as the knowledge and capabilities developed by the government to counter such disasters.
This seminar was held at the Camp John Hay Trade & Cultural Center, Baguio City last October 21-24, 2014.
