Morphine Sulfate, a drug for cancer-stricken patients is now made available for free at selected hospitals in the country, DOH authorities said.
A distribution list was earlier prepared by the DOH Special Concerns Technical Cluster of the Dangerous Drugs Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program. The said list was issued last quarter of 2014 to the different regions of the country and supplies of the cancer drug were provided.
Cancer patients are advised by DOH to obtain their yellow prescriptions from their respective physicians, who are authorized to issue the prescription, and proceed to the selected DOH hospital in their locality to avail of the free supply of the aforesaid drug.
The following are the hospitals given free supply of Morphine Sulfate: Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital (Ilocos Norte); Region 1 Medical Center (Dagupan, Pangasinan); Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center ( Nueva Ecija); Bicol Medical Center ( Naga City); Western Visayas Medical Center ( Iloilo city); Margosatubig regional Hospital ( Zamboanga Del Sur); Mayor Hilarion Ramiro Sr. Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (Ozamis City); Northern Mindanao Medical Center ( CDO); Davao Regional Hospital ( Davao del Norte); East avenue Medical Center; Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center (Sta. Cruz, Manila); Laguna Provincial Hospital ( Sta. Cruz, Laguna) for Madre de Amor Hospice foundation; James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (Olongapo City); and Quezon City General Hospital (EDSA, Quezon City)
