To inform and empower scout masters and leaders on the various teaching methods of drug abuse prevention and control, and how to integrate these concepts in their scouting lessons, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) conducted a seminar on drug abuse prevention and control for 110 scout masters and leaders of City of Antipolo.
The said seminar focused on the role of scout masters in molding their students to be a drug-free citizen.
Dr. Flora D. Cahapay, Council Chairman, Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Southern Tagalog Region, Antipolo City gave her opening remarks and emphasized the need for scout masters and leaders to help the government in its fight against the evils of drug abuse.
In a message given by Dr. Victor C. Cahapay, Council Training Commissioner, BSP Southern Tagalog Region, Antipolo City Council he underscored the importance of drug abuse prevention awareness as part of their scouting lessons in the school and community.
On behalf of Sec. Antonio “Bebot” A. Villar Jr., DDB Chairman, Asec. Amador S. Pabustan, Deputy Executive Director for Administration stressed the need for early prevention for grade school children. “As scout masters and leaders, it is your responsibility to guide and teach your students to say no to drugs,” Asec. Pabustan stated.
Atty. Arnold L. Valle, Attorney V, Legal Research Division, PDEA discussed the salient provisions of R.A. 9165 and explained in detail the different provisions of the said law and the corresponding penalties for violations of the Act.
The aforesaid seminar conducted January 24, 2015 at Juan Sumulong Elementary School, Sumulong St., Brgy San Roque, Antipolo City.
