In the bid to enhance the capacities of drug law enforcement officers, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) is partnering with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for the conduct of continuing seminar on anti-illegal drugs operation and investigation.

This training, sponsored by the DDB, aims to equip PDEA agents and other drug enforcement officers with necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively and competently carry out drug supply reduction activities from intelligence build-up to negation operation.

Last February, the first run of this seminar for the year was conducted in Batangas City for PDEA agents and police officers from Region IV-A. The second batch was scheduled this coming April 4-8 in Aklan.

Speakers during the trainings are officials from the Philippine National Police and the PDEA discussing topics on the salient provisions of RA 9165, latest jurisprudence on drug cases, basic intelligence operations, airport and border patrol interdiction, identification of drugs and laboratory equipment, preparation of reports, ad rules on the chain of custody, among others.

To strengthen supply reduction efforts, the DDB deems it important to also increase competencies of law enforcers. Meanwhile, investigation on alleged erring PDEA agents are being closely monitored by the DDB.
