The Dangerous Drugs Board jump-started the celebration of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week 2016 on November 14 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City
Cuneta Astrodome was jam-packed with anti-drug advocates from all over Metro Manila. Their participation to the activity signified their commitment to live a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Pasay City Mayor Antonino G. Calixto welcomed delegates from different anti-drug abuse councils and communities. Pasay City served as the host of this year’s DAPC Week kick-off program along with the Seventh Day Adventist Church, a member of the Inter-Faith Based Council on Drug Abuse Prevention Education.
Rep. Emi Calixto-Rubiano of the Lone District of Pasay also graced the occasion and posed this challenge to the participants, “Handa ba kayong umaksyon para malutas ang salot ng lipunan?”
In his message, DDB Chairman Secretary Benjamin P. Reyes reminded participants especially the parents of listening to children - to their feelings, emotions and concerns – to sway them from negative coping mechanisms including the use of drugs. This is an elaboration of this year’s DAPC Week theme, “Makinig Muna: Ang Pakikinig sa mga Bata o Kabataan ay Daan Upang Tulungan Silang Lumaki na Malusog at Ligtas.”
The program was highlighted by the launching of Board Regulations Nos. 3 and 4, providing for the guidelines on managing or handling voluntary surrender of drug personalities.
