Assistant Secretary Earl P. Saavedra, former Commissioner of the National Youth Commission representing Mindanao, has been newly appointed as Deputy Executive Director for Operations of the Dangerous Drugs Board.
DDB Chairman, Sec. Benjamin P. Reyes, welcomes the appointment of Asec. Saavedra saying “his experience working with the youth would be a great help to the efforts of engaging young people in the anti-drug campaign.”
Among the highlights of Asec. Saavedra’s professional career include being the Chairman of the Committee on Youth with Specific Needs during his stint as Commissioner of NYC, and introducing key reforms in the implementation of the Government Internship Program. He led the efforts of expanding the mechanism of providing transitional employment opportunities to the young by capacitating them through trainings and workshops regardless of their educational qualifications.
As the new Deputy Executive Director of the DDB, he will oversee the Board’s Preventive Education, Training and Information Division and Policy Studies, Research and Statistics Division.
He was appointed by the President on January 27, 2017 and took his oath of office before the DDB Chairman on February 01, 2017.
