Last June 26, the national celebration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was successfully held in Bacolod City. The event was supported and graced by officials of the Local Government of Bacolod City as well as the province of Negros. It was also covered by the city's local media.
The Dangerous Drugs Board would like to clarify though, one article in the Visayan Daily Star stating that Usec. Maria Belen Angelita V. Matibag committed a particular amount for the construction of a rehabilitation facility in Bacolod City. (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2017/June/27/topstory4.htm)
It was the previous DDB administration that approved the grant in 2016. The financial resources has not yet been released pending the completion of some documentary requirements as prescribed by the existing Board Regulation pertaining to such matters.
Given the dedication of Bacolod City's officials to the campaign against drugs, we are positive that the pending requirements will be completed and the funds will be released soon. The convergence the DDB saw among the local government, organizations and the private sector in the city is deemed to be an important factor in the city's successful anti-drug campaign.
Moreover, the DDB feels that the credit for the construction of a rehabilitation facility should be given to the LGU for it is though their efforts that this plan can be realized.
