The “Lanao del Sur Drug Trade Diagram” released by the President is an apparent indicator of the link between illegal drugs and crimes.
Illicit drug production, trafficking and use remains a matter of national concern as it hinders development and pose threat to the nation’s security. Its profound and devastating effects know no boundary in terms of ethnicity, religion, geographic location, political affiliation, educational background and socio-economic status.
Addressing the drug problem therefore is imperative for the country’s continued progress and development. The Philippine government has been implementing a comprehensive and balanced approach, comprised of strategies on both supply and demand reduction.
While we strengthen our programs that raise people’s awareness on the ill effects of drugs and prevent them from falling prey to this menace, the Dangerous Drugs Board will also continue to improve policies and strategies to facilitate data gathering and intelligence exchange, which are necessary in effective law enforcement.
