About 100 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members and Pederasyon Presidents from different cities and provinces across the country were gathered in a three-day summit at Hive Hotel, Quezon City.
Spearheaded by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and National Youth Commission (NYC), the program seeks to consolidate and standardize action plans that will ensure full participation of SKs in pursuing the anti-drug priorities of the government.
To serve as their reference in the creation of their plans, participants were oriented on the Philippine Youth Development Plan and the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drug Strategy.
In a statement, DDB Chairman Secretary Catalino Cuy encouraged the newly-elected SK officials to strengthen the conduct of anti-drug campaign in their community, recognizing their leadership to influence others, “I personally see your group to be one of the very important components in our campaign against illegal drugs. Being the leaders of youth in your respective area, you have a very good chance of influencing more people, lalo na yung mga ka-age niyo.”
“You are our hope. You are our future. Help us make this country drug-free,” he added.
The summit started last Monday and a similar program will also be conducted for Local Youth Development Officers.
